A market research firm predicts that by the end of 2030, there will be more than 1.595 billion fixed broadband subscriptions worldwide. Global fixed broadband subscriptions will grow by 18% from mid-2022 to the end of 2030.

A market research firm has updated its forecasts for fixed broadband penetration by the end of 2030 for 96 markets. The forecasts are based on its quarterly broadband usage data through the second quarter of 2022.

The highest growth in fixed broadband subscriptions will come from emerging markets. These markets have been expanding fixed broadband infrastructure, especially fiber.

Global fixed broadband subscriptions forecast to grow 18% by 2030?

Demand for ultra-fast broadband has been growing at a healthy pace in these generally large and growing populations and economies.

Growth in mature countries is generally slower, as fixed broadband penetration there is already high.

South Asia and East Asia are expected to continue to have by far the largest number of fixed broadband subscriptions by the end of 2030.

Among the global regions, there are expected to be 180 million fixed broadband subscriptions by 2030. Despite being expected to have the fastest growth, the Middle East and Africa will remain the smallest fixed broadband markets.

A market research firm now predicts global fixed broadband access figures by the end of 2030 to be 2.7% higher compared to previous forecasts.

This reflects that in some countries, broadband penetration and target audience growth is higher than previously expected. This raises the market research firm's forecast for global fixed broadband users this decade.

Emerging or young countries, where market saturation is relatively low. There is still much room for expansion in fixed broadband coverage and usage in these countries.

The overall picture shows that countries in the Global South will generally see higher growth in fixed broadband penetration by the end of the decade.

Similarly, countries mainly from the Global South will make the greatest progress in population fixed broadband penetration.
