According to a recent report released by Market Research Group:
The mobile core network market in Q3 2024 rose 12% year-on-year after a 15% decline last quarter.
After a decline in the previous quarter, the 5G MCN market resumed growth, with a year-on-year increase of 20%.

Market Research Group Research Director said:
"Given the volatility of quarterly results, it is more meaningful to analyze the trends over the past four quarters."
"Based on a rolling 4-quarter average, the growth rate of the MCN market fell 4% year-on-year, while the 5G MCN market grew 5% year-on-year."
"The market's decline shows ongoing economic challenges and reduced spending by mobile network operators."
"We expect MCN market revenues to be lower in 2024 than in 2023 but slightly higher in 2025."

By this report, 63 MNOs in 35 countries have launched 5G standalone enhanced mobile broadband networks. Eight new deployments were added in 2024, compared to 13 in 2023 and 21 in 2022.

Slower 5G SA network rollouts have made it harder for vendors to boost revenue. A year ago, 5G mobile core network revenue grew 29% year-on-year but fell to 5% in Q3 this year.

Other highlights of the Mobile Core Network and Multi-Access Edge Computing Report for the third quarter of 2024 include:
- The 4G MCN and VoLTE/VoNR markets saw year-on-year growth declines in Q3 2024 based on a rolling 4-quarter average.
- The MCN market is expected to grow 1% year-on-year in 2025.
