Telecommunications service providers reported declines in revenue and capital expenditures, in stark contrast to most cloud computing companies. Among the top 15 telecom operators tracked by industry market research institutions, 11 announced their first-quarter financial results. Compared to the first quarter of 2023. Its revenue and capital expenditures fell by an average of 3% and 11%, respectively.

The three U.S. telecom operators' continuing business revenue was almost flat.

Semiconductor IC manufacturers reported mixed results. Their consensus expectation is that they are nearing the bottom of a cycle and that growth will resume in the second half of 2024.

All of these device vendors expect more growth in the second quarter and the rest of 2024.
