Shenzhen plans to add more than 1,600 OTN nodes by the end of 2023, with 10G PON ports accounting for 10.0%, more than 100 all-optical industrial parks, and 10,000 new 5G base stations

Recently, the Shenzhen Bureau of Industry and Information Technology officially released the "Shenzhen Speed Pioneer City Construction Action Plan" (referred to as the "Action Plan"), proposing that Shenzhen will add 10,000 new 5G base stations in 2023. Before the end of 2023, Shenzhen will build a high-speed, large-capacity, and low-latency super broadband network to achieve the goal of "dual gigabit, all-optical, 1 millisecond, and the Internet of Everything" network construction, and create the first domestic and world-leading ultra-fast Pioneer city.
The "Action Plan" proposes 14 specific tasks from four aspects: Pioneer access, Pioneer computing power, Pioneer perception, and Pioneer application.
In terms of pioneer computing power, it is proposed to consolidate the foundation of digital economy development. Build a high-quality all-optical capacity network, strengthen the overall planning of network capacity development, optimize the communication network structure and bandwidth of the core clusters of national hub nodes from Shenzhen to Shaoguan, explore the construction of a city-wide "one-hop direct" data center direct connection network, and reduce data detours Delay, creating a 1 millisecond computing power delay circle in the city, etc.
In terms of Pioneer perception, it is proposed that by the end of 2023, the number of water, electricity and IoT sensing terminals will exceed 9 million, and 20 multifunctional smart pole application demonstration projects will be created. Explore the integrated development of satellite communications, terrestrial 5G, and the Internet of Things.
In terms of pioneering applications, support the integration and innovative development of "dual gigabit" networks with industry, education, medical care, transportation, urban management and other fields, and promote the deployment and upgrading of "dual gigabit" networks for government and enterprise internal and external networks.
In terms of Pioneer access, it is proposed to accelerate the upgrading of Gigabit optical networks, promote the construction and management of household broadband in "villages in cities", and accelerate the transformation of "copper-to-optical" broadcasting and television networks.
The "Action Plan" requires deepening the coverage of Gigabit optical networks in urban households, key areas, and key industries, promoting the extension of optical transport network (OTN) nodes to the edge of the network, adding more than 1,600 optical transport network (OTN) nodes throughout the year, and expanding The scale of gigabit broadband users, the number of gigabit fiber broadband household users accounted for 40%.
The "Action Plan" also proposes to comprehensively improve the energy efficiency of 5G networks, support basic telecommunications companies to increase the optimization of 5G networks in key areas and places, add 10,000 new 5G base stations throughout the year, and achieve an average download rate of 500Mbps and an uplink rate of 100Mbps in the city.
