The European Optical Communications Conference (ECOC) is the largest event in this field in continental Europe and one of the most prestigious traditional events in the field of optical communications in the world.
ECOC 2022 will be the 48th and return to the heart of Europe. Held in Basel, Switzerland from September 18 to 22, 2022.

Optical communication is a term of communication engineering, which is a communication method using light waves as carrier waves. There are two ways to increase the optical path bandwidth: one is to increase the single-channel transmission rate of the optical fiber; the other is to increase the number of wavelengths transmitted in a single optical fiber, that is, wavelength division multiplexing technology.
Basel is located at the intersection of the three countries in the northwest of Switzerland, bordering Alsace, France in the northwest, and the Black Forest Mountains in the north-south direction of Germany in the northeast. Basel is the cultural capital of Switzerland, the third largest city in Switzerland after Zurich and Geneva, and the oldest university town. Basel offers a beautiful old town with historic and scenic landmarks such as the market square or the Rhine. Here, you have the opportunity to experience technology, culture and history within walking distance, and you can feel the interweaving of technology and history as you walk through the old town.
As one of the leading optical communications conferences, ECOC attracts scientists and researchers from all over the world. The conference attracted industry participants from 90 countries and regions around the world, not only top universities, but the world's largest and most influential companies also showcased their amazing breakthroughs from materials and equipment to systems and networks, as well as their Insights into the future, together to explore the latest technologies in global optical communications. ECOC provides an important meeting place for sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas, fostering innovation and collaborating on a global scale.
In this ECOC2022, the technical scope includes: SC1 - new optical fibers, optical fiber devices and amplifiers; SC2 - photonic devices and technologies; SC3 - photonic integrated circuits, components and packaging; SC4 - digitally enhanced optical communication technology; SC5 - optical communication theory ; SC6 - Optical Transport Systems; SC7 - Core and Metro Networks; SC8 - Access, Indoor and Short Range for Data Centers and Mobile Networks; SC9 - Photonics for RF and Free Space Optical Applications; SC10 - Optical Networks architecture, control and management.
ECOC also has the largest exhibition in this field in Europe. Have the opportunity to see the latest products and discuss new technologies together.
ECOC started in London, England in 1975 and has been held for 48 sessions so far. See you next year in Glasgow, Scotland!
