Global data center switch sales up 20%
200G/400G port shipments approached 2 million

According to a recently released report, in the third quarter of 2022, the sales of global data center switches increased by nearly 20% year-on-year, reaching a historical high in the third quarter and the first three quarters. Several vendors increased their revenue share, with some increasing their revenue share by more than 6 percentage points during the quarter.

"As the supply environment continues to improve, more orders are finally being fulfilled, as evidenced by double-digit growth in port shipments this quarter. Such a strong performance in the first nine months of the year," said a group senior research director. For 2023, despite the likely deteriorating macroeconomic conditions, we expect a significant backlog from 2022, coupled with accelerated adoption of 200/400Gbps, and Continued strong demand from some quarters will drive the market to steady growth again."

Additional Highlights from the Data Center Switch Report Q3 2022:

All segments recorded growth, including cloud service providers (SP), telecom operators, and large enterprises, with the cloud segment contributing 80% of the year-over-year growth in the quarter.

North America, China and Asia Pacific (excluding China) all achieved double-digit growth, with the North American market contributing 90% of the total growth for the quarter. Meanwhile, the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region declined due to macroeconomic headwinds.

In the quarter, 200Gbps and 400Gbps port shipments were close to 2 million, accounting for more than 10% of total data center switch port shipments, and revenue accounted for more than 20% of the overall market. The growth was mainly due to the accelerated adoption and improved supply of large cloud service providers.
